I know the Tor browser home page is the same as Firefox private mode, plus a few security and privacy patches. I'm wondering why there is a page called new private window in Tor browser? It doesn't seem logical at all.The presence of this option is a design artifact from Firefox, which Tor Browser is based on.

why?

Yes, the Tor Browser is built upon and based on Mozilla Firefox's Extended Support Release (ESR). It's a modified version of Firefox, designed for privacy and security when using the Tor network. While it's a modified version, it's essentially built using the same underlying technology as Firefox
